Farewell Speech

Hyeong Rae Kim UNO IPD Trainee 2011 Session III

On this special day, I would like to share how fast my training period has passed by saying                              “one day to 8 weeks in 10 seconds.”

Reflecting on everything that has happened during the past 8 weeks,

I can only thank God for blessing my training period, which is far beyond what some would simply describe as lucky.

I look back on a few, but very important, gifts that I was given in my life, to be Positive. IPD program has made me Positive.

When Dean Gouttierre first started the International Professional Development program, I know the mission statement of IPD program was ‘to prepare professionals to conduct business in the global marketplace by developing communication skills and acquiring business knowledge’. Now, I understand.

My sincere appreciation goes to Mr. Quinn. Ed Quinn has always had a good reputation, and everybody likes him. I’m sure he liked and respected those people as well. “I believe in you.”

Ms. Reid, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Cat makes me become a more Positive person. No matter what or who they are or what they do, everyone is important to someone. Therefore, we learned to respect each other with Positive Thinking. She taught me, “Be Positive.” Global Business Communication is my favorite subject, because GBC class made me to be brave, when moving forward to the World. “I respect you”

Ms. Ashinger, I can never thank you enough. Sue always teaches us with a big smile and a careful touch. For my executive summary, Sue complimented on my English writing. So, now I have another dream. That is to write a book in English. “I like you”

Ms. Roy, I am deeply grateful to you. I always look forward to MP’s class, because she enabled me to think deeply about many topics. My final presentation was devoted to her ‘Blue Ocean Strategy’ lecture. “I’m proud of you.” And I am deeply grateful to my follow trainees.

We promised to meet on Feb. 22nd 2022, after 11 years. At UNO.

I Hope,

Mr. Bashrdost will be a CEO at Afghanistan Telecommunication Company,                                                        Mr. Chau will be the Major of Ho chi minh City,                                                                                              Mr. Ibata will be a CEO of his own company                                                                                                  Mr. Tashiro will be a CEO and President and the young                                                                                  Mr. Kim to be a private banker. “I like all my trainees, too.”

Last but not least, my home-stay family, I’d like to express my heartfelt thanks to you. With my host family, we dream a dream. One is to set up ‘Connie’s restaurant’ and another one is to found ‘David Rumbaugh Foundation’. I hope our dreams come true. “I love you”

On my IPD graduation, I have no words to express my gratitude for all. We only part to meet again. I’ll be back, Omaha and UNO.

“Thank you.”

Hyeong Rae Kim.
